Solvay to build a new silica plant in Poland

Brussels, February 13th, 2013 --- Solvay today announced it will invest €75 million to build a new 85,000 ton per year Highly Dispersible Silica (HDS) plant in Włocławek, Poland. Combined with a further capacity expansion at its site in Qingdao (China), these two investments will increase Solvay’s global highly dispersible silica production capacity by an additional 30%. SOLVAY INAUGURATES HIGHLY DISPERSIBLE SILICA CAPACITY EXPANSION IN FRANCE

Solvay inaugurated today during an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at its Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or site in France its highly dispersible silica capacity production expansion and its modernized R&D facility. This investment follows a similar volume expansion last year in the US and the start-up in 2010 of a new plant in China. These three investments required in total EUR 74 million.
