BOLLATE, Italy May 21, 2014 – Solvay Specialty Polymers has announced the introduction of a new high stiffness grade of KetaSpire® polyetheretherketone (PEEK) that provides 50% greater modulus/stiffness than standard neat PEEK grades. Despite its higher stiffness, the new grade, KetaSpire® KT-825, retains the elongation and toughness that is comparable to that of neat PEEK resin for structural applications in transportation, electronics, semiconductor, and oil and gas. Solvay Unveils New Halar® ECTFE Film Grades for Production of Front Sheets for Photovoltaic Modules

SHANGHAI, China, April 23, 2014 --Solvay Specialty Polymers has launched two new film grades of Halar® ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene (ECTFE) that are specifically designed for front sheet applications for photovoltaic (PV) modules. Halar® PV ECTFE and Halar® ECTFE UV blocking technology mark Solvay’s entrance into PV front sheet applications. The new products complement Solvay’s extensive material offering for PV modules which includes Solef® polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and Halar® ECTFE for back sheets and Cogegum® XLPO HFFR for cables and Polidiemme® XLPO for innovative encapsulants. The new polyolefin grade, Cogegum® GFR 380, delivers greater flexibility and superior flame resistance compared to competitive silane-grafted HFFR materials. Solvay's Udel® PSU Foam Is New Eco-Friendly Material Option for Wire and Cable Applications

BOLLATE, Italy, April 7, 2014 – Solvay Specialty Polymers has launched Udel® P-1703 NT, a high-performance polysulfone (PSU) foam grade that provides low-halogen content and low-smoke performance for wire and cable applications. The new material passes the stringent NFPA 262 smoke and flame test for plenum (CMP) applications and is also the industry’s first PSU foam for the wire and cable industry.
