Solvay will present at MD&M West 2019 on the use of metal-to-plastic conversion to drive new medical device designs. Solvay’s Global Market Manager for Healthcare, Anna Maria Bertasa, will present the paper on Thursday, Feb. 7, from 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST). Titled, “How to Make Specialty Polymers as Strong as Metal,” Bertasa will discuss how specialty polymers can be used to replace even the strongest and stiffest steel devices by incorporating simple design modifications, and how advanced polymers are now being used to enable innovative hybrid polymer-metal solutions. Her presentation will include case studies to illustrate typical development cycles and highlight the performance advantages that can be achieved by replacing metal with polymer technologies to create next-generation devices.
