Dow Corning Expands Prime Grade Portfolio Setting New Industry Standard for 150mm SiC Wafer Crystal Quality

Midland, Mich. – Dow Corning, a global leader in silicon and wide-bandgap semiconductor technology, raised the bar yet again for silicon carbide (SiC) crystal quality today by announcing that it now offers 150 mm diameter silicon carbide (SiC) wafers under its ground-breaking Prime Grade portfolio. Recently launched to set new standards for 100 mm SiC wafer quality, the portfolio now also offers three tiers of manufacturing quality 150 mm SiC substrates – labeled Prime Standard, Prime Select and Prime Ultra. Each tier offers increasingly stringent tolerances on critical defect types that adversely impact device performance, such as micropipe density (MPD), threading screw dislocations (TSD) and basal plane dislocations (BPD). (September 10, 2014) –Addivant™, a global leader in polymer additive technologies, today announced that it will resume production of its TRIMENE BASE® curing agent on an annual make-to-order (MTO) basis, to satisfy customer demand for this distinctive product. Addivant’s TRIMENE BASE® curing agent is a high-temperature rubber accelerator with a medium to long vulcanization rate in solid rubber. TRIMENE BASE® also stabilizes latex foams used in personal care products by causing gelling to occur at a higher pH, which prevents compounds from sagging in the early stages of air curing. TRIMENE BASE® is unique in that it can address specific functional needs in both solid and foam rubber applications for both natural and synthetic rubber compounds. The certificate was signed by Governor Robert Bentley of the State of Alabama, and presented to Andrea Blair, Addivant’s Bay Minette site manager, at Manufacture Alabama’s Safety/Health/Human Resources conference held in Orange Beach, Ala., in May.
